A truly unique magazine re-framing the realities of brain injury

Headway East London, a charity supporting brain injury survivors, approached us with the idea of showcasing the remarkable creativity within their community through a magazine. The result is Matter, a publication featuring essays, art, short stories, and editorials contributed by the centre’s members, staff, and volunteers.

The masthead sets the tone, hand-drawn by one of the charity’s members and seamlessly incorporated into the design. This approach continues with the addition of hand-scrawled elements, which aid flow and add a human touch to the experience. Inside, the content remains untouched, allowing its discrepancies and quirks to become part of the publication's unique character.
