Decoded Series

A series of publications decoding modern art and photography

Two modernist book designs appear next to each other in a photographic studio setting. The books are two of a series to do with decoding photography and modern art. Design by Extract Studio

As part of its mission to increase the public’s enjoyment and understanding of art, the Tate published a series of hardback books which ‘decode’ contemporary art for the curious, without the jargon or assumed prior knowledge. Reflecting this ethos is our stripped-back, clean design approach.

A classic, accessible typeface aligns with the series’ educational focus; strikingly coming to life through its repetition on the cover and chapter pages.
